- Fire ring or burner
- 1/2 NPT fitting to 3/8″ 45 deg flare (to connect to the gas hose)
- 1/2″ brass nipple
- Teflon tape
- Propane regulator with needle valve and 12′ hose
- 1/2″ Bulkhead coupler (brass) (fits a 1 1/8 hole)
- Extra coupler (steel) to use in lieu of brass if you prefer to weld your coupler into place
30 psi regulator is a good economic solution for most applications. It maintains the pressure at 30 psi and you control the volume of gas (size of the flames) with the attached needle valve. Works great with ring sizes smaller than 24″ with out venturi and smaller than 18″ with a venturi.
0-60 psi regulator is the Cadillac. The pressure can be adjusted from 0-60 psi and you can control the volume with the attached needle valve. It also comes with a gauge so you can see what pressure you are at. This gives greater control of the gas and more possible BTUs (size of the fire). You will likely never need the highest psi, as most fire pits start working at 10-20 psi and generally stay below 45 psi. When used with the venturi the 0-60 psi regulator also allows for a wider range of air/gas mixtures allowing a cleaner burn with less soot in many different media types. Can be used with any sized ring, but is recommended for rings size 24″ and above with or without the venturi and for rings 18″ and above with a venturi.
All fire rings have staggered burner ports for a better flame pattern and a more significant flame presence. Both stainless steel and cold rolled steel are available and all feature ports that are drilled not punched. The hub is raised above concentric rings to reduce risk of water in valve or gas line. A plugged 1/2 NPT coupler is welded at the center allowing them to be plumbed from either side. Rings may be used for natural gas or LP applications however the above kits are designed for LP applications. Please follow instructions during installation – Media type and amount is critical for safe operation.
We offer our rings in two types of steel: regular and stainless. Both materials will produce comparable flames.
Regular steel is a great economical choice if you plan on keeping your fire pit away from water and corrosive materials like salt. The biggest drawback to regular steel is rust. Rust can cause the small holes along the ring to become blocked, leading to time-consuming cleaning. Over time, rust could also create new holes or cause the ring to break. You will need to bring your ring in out of the rain.
Stainless steel is a great low-maintenance choice if you want to avoid the hassles of rust caused by water or corrosive materials like salt. If you plan on using your fire pit near the ocean we strongly recommend stainless.
A venturi pulls in the surrounding air and mixes it with the gas to achieve a cleaner burn with less soot. A small nut in the center is used to adjust the air/gas mix.
This upgrade kit is useful for fire pits that will be filled with rocks, high temp glass, or other porous materials that gas can easily flow past. If you plan on using sand or any small particulate material that will impede the gas flow, a venturi should not be used. Too much pressure in the gas line will cause gas to back up and escape from the venturi, potentially causing a small but unwanted fire beneath your vessel. See our fire kit information page for more information.
We offer a 90k BTU kit for the 6-12″ rings and a 150k BTU kit for 18″ and larger rings. These kits replace the 1/2 NPT x 3/8 45 deg flare fitting that comes with the standard fire ring kit.
Rings (but not kits) can be used for natural gas applications. The ring should be hard plumbed with a control valve (ball valve, or a gas key valve) to regulate the gas flow and to shut off the gas. No venturi is required for NG. Please consult a local plumber or your municipality for local plumbing codes for your area.
